Description
The POTS Network Adapter (POTS-4800S) is required to allow the Sentinel Area of Refuge Control Panel (SCM-4825) to use an analog/POTS telephone line for the dial-out function (if used). The dial-out function allows the Sentinel V2 System Call Stations (4800VS-3) to connect to an 24/7 attended monitoring location after a preset/programmable amount of time. When their call is not answered locally at the Master/Remote Base Station phone(s), it will seize and utilize the end-user's dedicated analog phone line to dial a pre-programmed emergency number (monitoring not included).
Operation
- The POTS-4800S is only needed if the system will dial-out to a 24/7 monitoring location. The Sentinel Area of Refuge system, by default, is compatible with digital/VOIP type of phone services (requiring a dedicated network connection) for the dial-out function (if used).
- The POTS-4800S is only required to allow the Sentinel system to use an analog/POTS (RJ11) dedicated phone line for the dial-out function
- Cornell recommends adding the POTS-4800S to every Sentinel Area of Refuge system, even when not dialing out currently, should the system require the capability for future use
Additional Information
- Often used when a dedicated network connection, required for the digital/VOIP phone, is not an option. Confirm with end-user when considering using their digital/VOIP phone service.
- Mounting: Secure using included Velcro tape. Mounts on, or adjacent to, the SCM-4825 unit, which provides it with power and network connection.
- Connections: Includes a 6ft CAT5E patch cable for the network connection to the SCM-4825 ("POTS" port), and a 12VDC power cable adapter (connect to SCM-4825 "POTS POWER" 12VDC output).
